Beekeepers mark their queen bees with a color code to signify the year they were born using a water based paint pen and to make it easier to find them in the hive.
Beekeepers regularly inspect their hives to assess the bees health and productivity. They perform pest management practices to detect, resolve and prevent issues that could impede the wellbeing of the hive.
Beekeepers call it "bearding" when honeybees cluster outside of their hive. They will do this to cool down the brood and to help regulate the hive temperature during hot summer days
